Hackness & Everley

We are situated in Everley, which is part of the village of Hackness, close the the famous seaside town of Scarborough. Here in Hackness you can find a beautiful historic village steeped in Yorkshire heritage. Home to Hackness Hall, a grade 1 listed building where the landscape gardens were created in the 1790s. Although the hall is a private residence there are many public walkways nearby and national park trails through the area which really enable you to enjoy this beautiful village in all its glory.


 

Forge Valley Woods National Nature Reserve

Walking distance straight from 'Carriage House Glamping Pods' you can find the Forge Valley Woods Nature reserve. The Forge Valley was formed by meltwater from the retreating Ice Age glaciers, the deep Forge Valley is a woodland haven for plants and wildlife, and is easily explored on a riverside boardwalk that follows the course of the water. Take to the boardwalk on this easy-going 2-mile linear route through the strikingly beautiful woods of Forge Valley. In spring and summer there are many wildflowers to spot; autumn produces spectacular colour and winter highlights the structure of the trees.

Scarborough 


Approx 5 miles

Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Scarborough's beaches. Feel the soft sand between your toes as you stroll along the golden shores, bask in the warmth of the sun, or enjoy a paddle in the sea. With two stunning beaches, North Bay and South Bay, you'll have plenty of space to relax and enjoy the coastal serenity.


Dalby Forest

Less than 6 miles from 'Carriage House Glamping Pods 'The Great Dalby Forest' is the perfect place for peaceful forest walking or adventurous mountain biking trails. The centrepiece of the North York Moors National Park with its 8,500 acres of breathtaking views, walking, running, cycle trails and Gruffalo adventures. A visit to Dalby Forest is magical for all ages. If it is adventures you’re after, Dalby Activity Centre and the Go Ape courses will get your adrenaline pumping. One of the many woodland trails will suit you if you fancy appreciating nature and wildlife. Have you got kids with you? The Gruffalo orienteering course and Superworm trail are magical for the entire family. Even at night, Dalby Forest is a place of wonder and magic; it is a Dark Sky Discovery Site where you can sometimes see the Milky Way with the naked eye. One thing is for sure there is an abundance of activities and things to do in Dalby Forest. 

Robin Hoods Bay & Whitby

Although a little bit further, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby are well worth the 30 minute drive from the 'Carriage House Glamping Site' to make a visit.  

Robin Hood's Bay is a picturesque old fishing village on the Heritage Coast of the North York Moors. It is a fantastic place for adults and children alike with a beautiful family friendly sandy beach, as well as rock pools to explore and ancient fossils to discover. Wandering through its narrow, twisting cobbled streets and alleyways, you can easily imagine the sailors and fishermen, smugglers and press gangs that walked these streets hundreds of years ago. Today it is a vibrant village, with a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants, small shops and places to explore, as well as many stunning coastal and country walks, cycle-paths and bridleways right on the doorstep.

There's more to Whitby than meets the eye - with its connections to Captain Cook and Dracula, its quirky narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking Gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey, Whitby is a fascinating town, unlike any other. Enjoy the unspoilt sandy beaches of Sandsend and Runswick Bay, Explore the 800km of bridleways that weave through the peaceful and colourful countryside of the North York Moors National Park, which surrounds Whitby town.
